Add a dynamic table to your template

To add dynamic tables to your templates, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Templates tab from the main navigation menu.

  • Click the New template button to create a new template, or open an existing template.

  • Verify that the Preview toggle in the top right corner is switched to edit mode.

  • Click the three-dot menu located in the action bar of the editor to expand your formatting options.

  • Select the Dynamic table option to insert the module into the body of your template.

  • Type a unique name for your dynamic table. This unique name is critical, as it identifies this specific table when you configure your automated workflows later.

  • Click on the blue Insert button in the module to save the dynamic table. Once inserted, the dynamic table becomes a static entity within the template's body.

Configure the dynamic table ID

Once the dynamic table is inserted in the template's body, it will become a static entity. It is not used with any manual formatting options, but instead provides an ID to connect your integrations.

  • Type a unique name for your new dynamic table. Choosing a unique name is critical, as it identifies this specific table when you configure your automated workflows later.

  • Review the dynamic table placeholder inserted in the template body. As shown in the interface, this placeholder will automatically be replaced by a table and include data from an external application.

  • Locate the unique ID displayed at the bottom of the placeholder block.

  • Click the highlighted in blue Copy link next to the ID to easily copy the table's reference. You can use this ID as an element in the automations to map data accurately from your external tools you want to integrate with.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I use a dynamic table in my workflows?

To use a dynamic table, you must configure a workflow in the automation builder and connect an external application integrated to Contractbook (such as HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.). Once the template containing your dynamic table is identified in a trigger event of any automation setup, the table will get populated with data in a separate tab during the subsequent automation action. From there, you can manipulate which data from your external application is pulled into the specific fields of your dynamic table. If you need the full guidance on this configuration, click here.

  • Can I add dynamic tables to contracts or drafts?

No, dynamic tables cannot be added to contracts and contract drafts. They can only be added to templates which you have created, or have at least permissions to “Edit templates” through a shared template space.

  • How can I use multiple dynamic tables within the same template in my automations?

You can easily add multiple dynamic tables to the same template. In the automation builder or when using Zapier, these tables are always identified as separate entities. This allows you to work with the data in each table separately and choose exactly which table should be populated with specific data from your external applications.
