Create a template from scratch

To save time and standardize your workflow, you can create a reusable contract template. You can start a new template directly from your main navigation menu.

  • Click on the Templates tab from the main menu.

  • Click the blue New template button.

  • Select the option to Create a blank template.

Name your template

Giving your template a clear, recognizable name ensures that you and your company users can easily find it in the company shared spaces later.

  • Click on the Document title field located at the top left of the editor.

  • Delete the default "Untitled template" text and type a descriptive name for your new template.

Add your company logo

Adding your logo to the template ensures that every new contract draft created from that template will automatically include it.

  • Click on the logo block located at the top of the template.

  • Select Use company logo to apply the default logo from your company settings, or select Upload a new logo to use a different image file for this template.

Insert and format template content

  • To start creating the body of your template, ensure you have enabled the edit mode.

  • Verify that the Preview option in the top right corner is disabled so you can actively edit the content.

  • Click into the main text area located between the party details and signature details blocks.

  • Type your text manually, or copy and paste content from an existing document.

  • Use the comprehensive formatting toolbar directly above the document body to style your text, add data fields, insert dynamic tables, and structure the layout.

Configure default attachments and custom messages

You can pre-configure specific files to save time when generating future contracts.

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the template to find the Default attachments section.

  • Click Upload attachment to add files (like standard terms and conditions) that will automatically be included in every new contract draft created from this template.

  • Type a standard greeting in the Custom message box. This message will automatically be sent along with the email notification to all recipients when, for instance, a contract draft created from this template is sent for signatures.

Set the default signature

  • Scroll down to the Set the default signature section at the bottom of the template.

  • Click the Change dropdown menu to select the default signature method for all signees.

Configure document language settings

  • Scroll down to the Settings section at the bottom of the template.

  • Click the Document language dropdown menu to choose the language for standard document labels (such as full name, address, etc.).

  • The selected language will carry over to any drafts created from this template and will be visible to all collaborators and recipients in both preview mode and the downloaded PDF version.
