Manage data fields’ settings

To make changes to the settings of your company's data fields, you must have rights to “Manage data fields library”. Ensure you have this user permission enabled before proceeding, or contact your company administrator for help.

Once enabled, follow these steps to manage the settings of a data field:

Access data field settings

  • Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select the data fields library under the “Company” section from the menu.

  • Locate the specific data field you want to update in your company’s library.

  • Click the three-dot icon next to the field's name and select Edit from the menu to open the properties panel.

  • Alternatively, open a contract draft or template and:

    • Click on any existing data field directly within the document body and click the gear icon (Settings) to open the settings panel.

    • Click the Data fields icon on the right-hand sidebar to open the data fields overview.

      • Click the three-dot icon next to the field’s name in the sidebar and select Properties to open the settings panel.

Make a data field Required

If you mark a data field as required, the contract draft with this specific data field present in the body cannot be sent for signatures until a value is added to it. This ensures mandatory contract data is never left blank upon signing.

  • Scroll down to the Settings section within the data field's properties panel.

  • Locate the Required field option and enable it.

  • Click the blue Save button to confirm your changes.

Set due date reminders

You can transform any date-formatted data field into a "Due date" to help you and your company track deadlines directly from your contract overview.

This will automatically highlight the approaching date data field added as a column in your private and company contract views:

  • Scroll down to the Settings section within the data field's properties panel.

  • Locate the Due date option.

  • Enable the option.

  • Click the blue Save button to confirm your changes.

  • If applicable, choose whether to apply this update to future documents only or update it everywhere, and click Confirm.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I enable a due date directly from a document instead of the library?

Yes, the due date option can also be enabled directly from the data fields sidebar within specific templates, drafts, or contracts. However, with this approach, the due date setting will only get applied to that specific document. You won't be able to select the option to apply the due date setting for all or only future contracts and templates, as is possible when configuring the field from your company's data fields library.
