Create a template from a draft or a contract
If you already have a contract draft, you can save it as a template in just a few clicks.
Click on the Contracts tab from the main menu.
Click on the Status filter above the document list and check the box for Draft to show all drafts you have access to.
Alternatively, use the Search bar on the right side to type the title or specific content details from the body text to find the draft immediately.
Open the contract draft you want to use.
Click on the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner.
Select Save as a new template from the dropdown menu.
The new template will automatically open, allowing you to make any additional edits before saving it.
Create a template from an existing contract
To create a template from a pending, signed, rejected or contract with requested changes, you must first save it as a draft.
Click on the Contracts tab from the main menu.
Click on the Status filter and check the appropriate boxes (such as Signed, Pending, Changes requested or Rejected) to show all contracts you have access to.
Alternatively, use the Search bar on the right side to type the title or specific content details from the body text to find the contract immediately.
Open the contract you want to use.
Click Save as a new draft from the navigation bar at the top of the document.
Once the new draft automatically opens, click the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner.
Select Save as a new template.
You can now delete the intermediate draft you created in the second step, or keep it to generate another contract.
Frequently asked questions
Will collaborators from my original draft or contract automatically get access to the created template?
No. If the draft or contract you use to create a new template is directly shared with others, they will not automatically gain access to the new template. The newly created template remains private to you by default. To collaborate on the new template, you can share it with others by adding it to a shared template space.
Can I create a template from an imported with AI or uploaded contract?
No. Imported with the AI and uploaded contracts cannot be converted into templates. You can only directly share or download them as a PDF.
You can also add these types of contracts to shared contract spaces to get the best collaboration options for you and your collaborators.
