Edit an existing data field
If any data field from your company’s library needs updating, you can modify its properties without having to delete and recreate it from scratch.
To edit any of your company's data fields, you must have user permissions to “Manage data fields library” enabled on your Contractbook account.
Ensure you have this user permission enabled before proceeding, or contact your company administrator for help.

Edit from the company data fields library
Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select the data fields library under the “Company” section from the menu.
Locate the specific data field you want to update from your company’s library list.
Click the three-dot icon next to the field's name.
Select Edit from the menu to open the field's properties panel.

Edit data field’s settings from a document
You can also quickly update data field settings globally while actively working inside a contract draft or template.
Open the draft or template and click the Data fields icon on the right-hand sidebar.
Locate the specific data field you want to modify in the sidebar list.
Click the three-dot icon next to the field's name.
Select Edit global data field settings from the dropdown menu to open the properties panel from your company’s data fields library.

Apply the updates
Whether you access the properties from the library or the document’s data fields sidebar, the process to finalize your changes is the same.
Update the field's name, description, formatting, general, or admin settings as needed within the properties panel.
Click the blue Save button to confirm your changes.
Select the option you wish to apply to the existing data field across your company’s documents:
Update the field in future contracts and templates only.
Update everywhere (this option includes current templates and contract drafts; signed and pending contracts, however, will remain unchanged).
Click the blue Confirm button to apply the selected option.
