Download a draft or template as a Word file

Downloading drafts or templates as a Word file requires you to be the creator, or to have rights to view the specific document.

Download a draft as a Word file

Downloading a contract as a Word file (.docx) is only possible in draft mode. Once a contract is pending or signed, you can only download it as a PDF.

  • Click the Contracts tab from the main menu to open your document overview.

  • Click on the specific draft you want to export to open it in the editor.

  • Click the three-dot menu located in the top-right action bar.

  • Select Download as Word (.docx) from the dropdown list.

The file will download directly, you can open and edit it further outside of Contractbook.

Download a template as a Word file

You can also export templates you have created or have been shared with you in template spaces.

  • Click the Templates tab from the main menu.

  • Click on the specific template you want to export to open it.

  • Click the three-dot menu located in the top-right action bar.

  • Select Download as Word (.docx) from the dropdown list.

Important export details

When you download a draft or template as a Word file, some Contractbook-native features are converted to static text. These are the following:

  • Attachments you have added to the document body are not included in the exported Word file.

  • Data, metadata fields or templates conditional logic, are flattened into plain text.

  • The exported Word file is static and is no longer connected to existing Contractbook workflows.
