Select draft signature method automatically

To build automations that apply to all company contracts or utilize templates from shared template spaces, you must have user permissions to “Manage all contracts” enabled for your account, be the creator, or have shared “Manage templates” permissions in the specific source template space.

Configure draft signature types automatically

When building a workflow to automatically create contract drafts, you can use the details tab configuration to change the default signature method for the newly created draft.

  • Click on the Automations tab from the main navigation menu on the left side of the screen.

  • Click the blue Create new button or select an existing automation to edit.

  • Select the Create a draft action for your workflow.

  • Click the Details tab in the configuration window of the automation action option.

  • Scroll down to the Parties section to define each signee’s details.

  • Click the Add new party button to include an additional party. You have complete control over the parameters and can define as many parties and signees as you need per automated workflow.

  • Click the Signature type dropdown menu for a specific signee to select their signature verification methods.

  • Select multiple different types of signatures per signee if needed. This allows your counterparties to choose the method that works best for them when receiving the contract for signatures.

  • Click the blue Save button to confirm your draft’s creation settings.

Template signature defaults vs. automation settings

To understand how to control the signature method when the source template you select in the automation action already has a default signature type configured, the automation linked to the template takes priority. Any default signature type saved within the template will be overwritten by the signature types picked when configuring the signees in your “create a draft” automation action.
