Troubleshoot a failed automation

Automations is a premium feature that is not included in all plans. If you do not see the option to create automations in your account, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information on how to get this feature.

To understand "why did my automation fail", you can easily check the automation activity to identify the specific issue.

You can follow these steps to find the reason for a failed automation:

Review the activity log from the automations menu

If you have used one of Contractbook's native automations and need to understand what caused a failure, you can do that directly from the automations menu tab.

  • Click the Automations tab from the main navigation menu on the left side of the screen.

  • Locate the specific workflow that failed.

  • Click the three dots icon next to the automation and select Activity log from the dropdown menu to see the complete history of your automation notifications.

  • Click on the failed attempt to expand the details of all steps taken during the execution.

  • Review the trigger data received within the log. Activity logs show output data insights directly from the review, allowing you to troubleshoot specific settings or failed data entries.

Review failed automations from your account notifications

Alternatively, if you have enabled automation notifications under your profile settings, you can find a detailed overview of executed activities directly from your notifications menu.

  • Click the Notifications bell icon in the top right corner of the platform, next to your name.

  • Locate the specific failed automation in the list of alerts.

  • Click on the notification to open the detailed view of the executed automation activities.

  • Click on the Show details button to expand the specific reason for the failed automation step.
